Hi! This is Mirko Burin, fashion stylist.
The majority of the readers might already think they know what kind of job mine is. For those who aren’t, however, familiar with the world of fashion, I wish to underline that I am not a designer (this is a question I’m always asked). To those, instead, who know more about fashion, I would like to tell I am not constantly shopping nor do I play with models as if they were my Barbies.
A FASHION STYLIST IS, ABOVE ALL, A PROFESSIONAL IN THE WORLD OF FASHION
I like to think of the fashion stylist as a painter, whose palette is composed of all accessories and clothes the fashion industry provides, which combine through his personal eye and creativity.
This latter must be limitless and unbiased: A pair of trousers might leave its “physique du role” and become a shrug!
Styling is creativity, instincts, sensitivity, but there must always be a method in the madness. A stylist must be able to measure these qualities through his experience. And experience comes with time and hard work. It is a job which allows you to constantly learn something new and, above all, which allows you to always feel new emotions. And I do love emotions.
Through my work I always aim at striking a chord, just as when, as a little child (and today as well, as a grown-up) I was moved by contemplating that weird photographed reality, of which I barely could understand the language.
